Pigskin Previews

There is less than one week before the start of the DI and DII football seasons and two weeks from the kick-off of the Centennial Conference gridiron campaign. That means ... it's time for the local and regional newspapers to put together their annual football preview sections. So you don't have to go outside and buy paper after paper, we thought we'd help the environment and provide all the information for you right here.

Scott Toole of the Express-Times writes "If there's one thing you can count on about the Centennial Conference, it's the final standings will reflect how competitive the league is. Five different teams have captured at least a share of the Centennial League championship over the past four seasons."

Toole follows with previews on Muhlenberg while Tom Hinkel reports on Moravian.

Is Muhlenberg's Mike Nolan the best offensive lineman in the country? Mule head man Mike Donnelly thinks so.

Bob Black of the Harrisburg Patriot-News says the Centennial is loaded with quarterbacks. "In China, home of this year's Summer Olympics, this is considered to be The Year Of The Rat. But in Centennial Conference football, this is considered to be The Year Of The Quarterback. Big-time."

Dave Byrne of the Lancaster Sunday News says the Centennial favorites feel the pressure to produce and talks about preseason polls. "Preseason college football polls: the mother's milk for foam-finger-waving fans and media types alike. For college football coaches, not so much. Especially for those coaches who call the Centennial Conference home."
