Kim + Steve,
Thanks for all the coverage of champs this weekend. Your efforts certainly deserve a round of applause. While the video may have been down, the results were still posted on this blog in good time allowing us all to still follow the action closely. When I become that "wealthy F&M alum" I'll give them some money for the express purpose of getting a better server! :) But all in all a great weekend. Thanks again for your efforts guys!
I agree with Steve. Congrats to all the swimmers, as usual you did a great job. Special thanks to Steve and Kim for their efforts. Although they had many technical difficulties their effort to get us the scores in a timely manner was outstanding. Maybe when my F&M alum son gets rich and famous he too will donate money for the purchase of a better server too!
From the headline story on the home page of www.centennial.org the morning of Feb 19, 2007: "The Diplomat men finished with 854 points to win their third straight championship...". This is not correct. Since there was no cenference champ last year due to the cancellation of the meet on the last day, the F&M men did not win last year, thus this year's team championship is not their 3rd straight. Please correct this error.
To the "anonymous" poster at 8:40 AM: If I wanted to take up this petty argument with you I could easily explain how this is indeed the F&M men's third straight championship. However, because I do not wish to take that low road I am just going to pretend that this post never happened. The above post clearly smells of jealousy and I can assure you that if any other team had won the past three championships this would not have been an issue. If you are going to claim that you were just tying to point out a factual error, then you and I both know that's a lie because if that were the case you could have just emailed Steve. Instead you chose to post about it on the blog and let everyone know how immature you are and what kind of low level you are willing to stoop to. Please carry this argument on elsewhere. Again, I have no idea what F&M does to deserve this kind of treatment and I wish people who are going to be abrasive on this blog would at least identify themselves. Posting under the name "anonymous" shows just how much of a coward you really are.
It IS their third straight. Since a team championship wasn't awarded, there wasn't one to win last year. Had the headline said that they won for the "third year in a row," then you'd have a point, but it didn't. They've won each of the last three team titles that were awarded.
This is the same as how the Atlanta Braves were recognized as winning their division for so many years in a row even though the Expos were leading the division in 1994 when the strike canceled the rest of the season. Since a divisional championship was not awarded that year by Major League Baseball, the Braves' streak stayed intact. Similarly, when the 1995 season started the Toronto Blue Jays were still correctly noted as the two-time defending World Series Champions since they had won in 1992 and 1993. There was no 1994 World Series Champion, so Toronto continued to be the reigning champions until the 1995 champion was crowned.
I couldn't care less about F&M swimming, but I had to say SOMETHING because the post two spots up is so off-base.
