Monday Morning Quarterback

The Conference went 1-2 last weekend in non-Centennial games with Gettysburg posting the lone victory, a 31-14 triumph over Denison ... Bullet freshman QB Matt Flynn (Northfield, NJ / Mainland Regional) threw three touchdown passes in his first collegiate start, including a pair to RB Dusty Green (Idaville, PA / Bermudian Springs) ... Flynn has thrown eight TD passes in the last two games - a significant stat when one considers that only Dickinson's Matt Torchia (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon) among CC passers threw as many in the entire 2005 season ... Gettysburg junior RB Tom Sturges (Ridgefield, CT / Ridgefield) was the offensive player of the week in the CC after rushing for 186 yards on 31 carries ... he became just the seventh back in Bullet history to amass 2,000 yards in a career and now has 2,149 ... Franklin & Marshall's defense held undefeated Carnegie Mellon 72 yards under its season rushing average of 220 ... unfortunately, the Tartans made up for it by throwing for 253 - 114 over their average - in the 34-14 win over the Diplomats ... Johns Hopkins marched 54 yards in eight plays, capped by a Phil Roberts (Philadelphia, PA / Chestnut Hill) 9-yard scoring run, to take a 20-14 lead over homestanding St. Lawrence with 3:41 to play ... the Saints countered with a match of their own, driving 88 yards in 15 plays, with Matt Bezio passing 6 yards to Brett Young for the winning score with 28 ticks left in a 21-20 SLU victory ... Centennial play begins this weekend with three games - Dickinson at Johns Hopkins, Franklin & Marshall at Muhlenberg, and McDaniel visiting Ursinus. Game previews, stats and more are available on the Centennial's weekly football release.
